Hello all. All bar a few minor touchups this one is complete. It is a plastic figure from ICM in 1/16th scale. New tooling of Her Majesty's Queens Grenadier Guard.

In Styrene it is a multi piece affair with the joins quite well thought out. The SA80 rifle is a single piece mould and really nice. I would have hoped for some more texture in the fabrics to work with but I did the best I could. The Bear skin hat is 4 pieces and all details are painted by brush in acrylics.

The beautifully painted reds on this one realky stand out, as they should I suppose, but the whole piece is soooo nicely done.
This looks a decent kit and I could imagine someone adding a whole chestful of medals to this as an interesting conversion.

Paul.

I could never guess that it's a plastic figure. You have done a really nice job.

Excellent paint work, especially on a plastic figure! The reds look so real for a guardsman's tunic, what colours did you use?

John

The paintwork is superb, especially the red of the tunic. The shape of the bearskin is not too bad, but bearskins are not always easy to model.

Mike

Reds look great and did I see someone mention adding more medals ....wise fella

You'd have to give him a tape or two as well! OSM Afghanistan and the QDJM, and still only a Guardsman? He's a flyer that one! :-D

Beautifully painted though!

Edited to add, and he needs a "show again" for his boots!

Thank you guys. I got this figure from Hannants in the UK for about $27 AUD. Search ICM16001.

My painting plan was to prime white then paint white and then preserve the white areas adding all other colours after. Medals, collar and shoulder boards were finished first then red cut into them.
The reds are from the Andrea Colours Red set . I used the "Base" first, about 4 coats then 2 coats of "1st Light" which brightened it up nicely to the Scarlet shade. Mixed "1st Light" with "1st Shadow" for darker areas and "1st light & 2nd Light" for highlights. Final highlights with straight "2nd Light"

The gold is true metal wax from AK interactive - I still haven't worked out how to get the best from this stuff yet, you're supposed to polish it when it dries but I just keep rubbing it off !

The little base comes in the kit as well with 4 alternative top textures.

Glad you like him.
