I finished my Verlinden 120mm machinegunner today in time for Chicago. I modified the helmet to make it a little more in scale and added the insignia to represent a machinegunner for LGR 109 (Baden). I'll see how it goes...

Hi Dave,..
I do like your WW1 German, good simple setting, so often the mud takes over with many WW1 subjects. I especialy like his face and helment, ... WW1 is perhaps my favorite subject but lean more towards the ANZAC side of things.....

good stuff mate Phil..

Great painting

Because this is my first post and I stay here since one month, I don´t know if you knew the following homepage, with many informations about WW I and many photos of original parts (weapons, tunics, headgear and equipment)
www.kaisersbunker.com

I´m living in Germany and buy some WW I-Kits from Jon Smith, living here, too. He made resin-kits (scale 54mm or 120mm). If you don´t know him, here ist his homepage Jon Smith Modelbau

Thanks all for your valued comments. Dan: I didn't attend the awards presentations, either. The caliber of the other submittals was rather "humbling" for me, so I'll chalk this show up to a good experience. Geez, there were some awesome entries there. Hope there were some pictures to share....

What type of machine-gun is he carrying? I've seen pictures of it before, but never much info to go with it...

Thanks,
Mike.

Mike:

It is a MG 08/15 which was put into service in 1915. A bipod was used (not on the figure)and a wood stock was added to the machinegun vs. the heavy sledge with the gun which weighed 140 pounds and took two men to move it.

Regards

Dave
