Hi All,

Having tried to cajole, sweet talk, prompt, intimidate, bully, coerce, persuade, entice and flatter sculptors to make a 120mm dynamic Zulu warrior with no luck, I have decided to commission one myself.

It was important to have the right look and knowing there is nothing out on the market like this. I asked Jimbo, our own Jim Evans to sculpt me one. Thank you Jim I am well pleased mate, lovely engineering. Also I would like to thank Steve, Reedees Miniatures for doing an excellent job with the casting, they are top notch with virtually no clean up.

The Zulu warrior is cast in grey resin and comprises of 14 parts and could easily represent one of the 20 or so Zulu married corps/regiments. Even with a bit of modification he could easily be turned into and un-married warrior or induna.

This 120mm Zulu warrior is in full flight on the front foot in a dynamic fighting/attacking pose. He represents a married warrior sporting the classic isiCoco head ring and short beard. He wears around his neck the isiQu, the necklace of valour usually made from things like jackals teeth and coloured pieces of wood.

The clothing is the war kilt, inSimba from genet or iNsimango from monkey tails, both types were used and the iBeshu, a loin cloth made from springbok hide at the rear. He also wears the amashoba, the white cow tails below the knees and on the upper arms. On the right forearm is the inGxotha, which is a brass armband presented by the King for outstanding service or bravery.

He carries in the right hand the iklwa (or assegai) short flat bladed stabbing spear. In the left hand he has the ishilunga Zulu war shield made from cow hide.
Hope you like it, I certainly do, not that I'm biased of course:). uSuthu, uSuthu!
I have a small amount cast and ready to go, so if you would like a copy please contact me. The kit price is £39.50 including world wide postage. Just for comparison I have put him next to the figure I did for Rob so you can see how it could interact.
cheers

Thanks mate, I'll bring one over to the next club meet. Yeah, the pose was key from the outset, I explained to Jim exactly how I wanted him and he nailed to the brief spot on. Just lucky I have a few:rolleyes: references books knocking about. See at the next meet(y).
