Beautiful work, Roger! I'm with the others, I think you have achieved a level of skill with flats that lets you produce excellent pieces consistently.

Was there a particular reason for undercoating with burnt siena, eg, to influence the colors that were to follow it? Like priming with white, to lighten the top color?

Thanks Brad.
I find it easier and clearer to paint onto an earthtone undercoat and I think most colours will go on top of earthtones. I've tried white it was like being dazzled, I found it difficult to distinguish the detail.
