One of your best yet Jimbo - your spoiling that cookie monster!

Hide the bickkie tin when he comes to collect ;)

I would dispute your sources Kev or maybe it's my eyesight but it looks like four rings on Jim's figure, one with a loop, which is a Captain. The b&W plates I posted are from The Admiralty Manual of Seamanship 1915.

Roger.

Hi Roger ,

I like this when we learn so much , the reference I used was mainly the book , on page 34 the cuffs are showing , and they certainly look the same width (3 with a 4th with the curl) .

The epaulettes have a crown below which are 2 stars and a fouled anchor below this

I would appreciate you having a look at your references again and seeing what you come up with for a 1st class Commodore .

If we change the title it could be a Captain with over 3 years seniority

Thanks for your wonderful input on this ...I want it 100% correct

Hi Roger ,

Great response mate , if this is the case then based on your references the book I have is incorrect , great pic of the epaulette , again in the book the 1st class naval chaps stars are not shown side by side ...perhaps a slight disregard for regs ?????

Thanks for the great links

Any chance of any more Step by step images?

I have several Verlinden Busts which could be converted if I knew how.

Cheers

Looked again ,

The epaulettes ref says both 1st and 2nd Class (perhaps as you say 2nd is a temp rank)
