Hi James,
Looks good sofar, but I would suggest you add more contrast in general.
Keep painting.

Cheers,
Marcel.

I agree with Marcel, I would add more light and shade, accentuating the contrasts.
I do not know if the fault of lights, pictures or the piece but it seems a little shiny in some places.
I suggest you use the andrea, are more opaque to vallejo or add a bit of tamiya's x21 flat base to remove the shiny effect that certain colors have such as blue, for example.
you consider that the acrylic base should be completely opaque to prevent oil tending to prove then polishes porcelain effect, raising the discourse to excess.
several friends who paint in oils suggest me always using a lot of white spirit to remove excess oil and get the color more opaque colors. is a matter of training and practice.
These considerations are only based on the picture, however, the piece may not have any natural light of what the photos show, is typical.
continues to paint and have fun.
ciao,
alessandro

James, You are on the right track.
But as mentioned above more shading and highlighting is needed.
You can shade the red with green and the green with red. They are complementare off eachother.
Highlighting red and green with yellow........
Keep painting and have fun...
Marc
