Can anymore suggest a model that can be adapted to the 1st Waikato Regiment at the Battle of Gate Pa in NZ in 1864. Essentially it is the same as a British Infantry regiment in NZ in that period described as: The 'jumper' uniform consisted of a loose single-breasted jacket with a pocket in the right breast, made of very dark blue serge. Worn with the dark blue 'pork pie' forage cap with the regimental number in brass on the front (dark green, with the buglehorn badge, for light infantry). Trousers were dark blue with a red welt down the outer seam. They wore a shoulder belt to carry the cartridge box over the left shoulder with a cap pouch attached.

Hi Chris,
Are the attached what you are trying to create? What scale are you planning?

Based on the above I would suggest something like a 24th Foot figure without the valise, the trousers have the seam (Anglo-Zulu Wars), the conversion might even suit a Victorian Gurkha if you can find one or a Confederate Infantryman (ACW) stripped back, with a change of head, scratch built hat, change of rifle and sort out any unique accoutraments.

cheers

I have seen Shenandoah figures converted to Victorian British. Several come with the trousers tucked into the socks, and the sack coat is close to what you need. 54mm though.

Richie and Steve,

Yes the photos are exactly what I am looking for. Many thanks for your suggestions. Much appreciated. I was thinking of 75mm - 100mm scale. Looking at doing one for a brother-in-law who lives near Tauranga. I haven't down anything for ages (about 30 years) but thought I might get back into the hobby.

I wonder if Maurice Corry would be interested in doing a model of this period??? His models are superb.

Best wishes
Chris
