Hi,
Finally got time to post up this years group photo...
I'll start with an apology for those whose name I either don't know or have forgotten.
It's tough getting older :-(
Thanks in advance to anyone that can help me out here.

And a heartwarming tribute to my friend Brian Spruyt (BSPRU).
I had just found out that Brian passed away suddenly last October.

Thanks to Scott and MFCA for this.
We missed you Brian.

We're getting the rest of the photos I took together for a show report on Historicus Forma. Hope to have it ready soon.
Thanks to everyone that came to the picture shoot.
Craig :)

In the back row it's Larry Lee ( right behind Dee ) , and I'm the one caressing Dee's shoulders. What a handsome couple we make. :)

Thanks for stepping up John. I told my wife those weren't my hands. Just to the right of John and Dee in the photo is Loren Johnson. To my left in the photo is Wendy ?

great pictures!!
always nice to see some 'colleaques' from other parts of the world. Maybe we should buy an island somewhere between europe and the states and live there and be happy

Great pictures, Craig. Thanks for organizing the group shot and posting these great pix. I really like the idea of the artist with their work. The portfolio on Armoramam is super! Great to see you again!

Next year in Wilmington will be better than ever! I can't wait!!

Thanks Pat. It was great to see you again too. And I really enjoyed getting the chance to talk with you.
Next year we should organize a get-together along with the group photo. With all the missing names I had, it's obvious that I didn't get to meet everyone in the picture or that my short term memory is just lousy.
Maybe we could either do a bull session in an empty corner during the show or ask everyone to come to the hospitality room one evening.
How's that sound?
Craig

Great idea, Craig. Let's ask those reading this thread which alternative they'd prefer or to suggest another way to get together for next year.

I missed saying hello to some of those in the photo and would have liked to spend some more time with them. It makes this forum so much more personal when you've met those you are talking to here.

Besides, is there a better way to spend time than talking figures with great people??

Yup, I'm the other chick in the pic. That's the best phonetic spelling of my last name I've seen yet! :D Ah the joys of Polish names...now you know why my username is just 'Wendy'.

So sorry about that Wendy.

Pat, good idea. And we can bring it up again next year before the show as well.
Craig

Anyone posting any other MFCA Show figures here. Seems I can't get access through the other site. :(

Don't worry about it! That was a very logical way to spell it from hearing it. Much better than Rafalalski that some try to write or pronounce. :D

side attractions

If you go back to the photo of Stephen Mallia in this thread and look at the object (it looks like a lamp shade) behind the right side of Stephen's head, it reminds you of the multitude of wonderful side attractions avail at a show. The object is a wrapped up chunk of clay that Bill Merklin (SP?? I always murder his name) would every once in a while through out the day, sculpt a larger than life bust of a live female model (someone from the crowd I presume). By the end of Sat, he had it completed. What a marvel seeing this live hands on creation from such a talented artist. Much thanks to the MFCA organizers and Bill for making the opportunity for such a thrill.

It was also the incentive for me to purchase one of Ron Tunison's last artist proof's of his Lincoln bust (although the threat of Pete Dawson to super glue my lips together if i didn't stop wining about missing the opportunity helped)

I highly recommend attending a show, the entertainment just never stops

Walt Damon

Craig, A lot of us saw a link on Timelines for your photos (which now does not work). I responded that you got to get your new camera to work incredibly well. Thanks for sharing.
Joe Salkowitz

Hi folks,
The photos are being relocated to a public gallery (to save my space). I've just sent a brief show report to Historicus Forma that will accompany the pictures in a show feature there. Sorry for them disappearing on everyone.

Wendy, thanks for your understanding :)
With my last name of Whitaker I'm also used to seeing it butchered in print and when called out at the local restaurant. And I invariably called Gregg :).

Joe, I went a bit nuts with the new camera that weekend. My old one used 3 1/2" floppies as film. That tended to limit my picture taking just because of the inconvenience of changing floppies and uploading them on the home computer. With the 2 gig chip I bought, I never gave it a second thought :).

As soon as the show feature is up, I'll post a new thread with a link for everyone.
Craig

Craig, thanks for the great pics. I had lots of fun and was wonderful seeing you and all the guys and gals again. Renewed friendships and made new ones too. Oh man, I love this hobby !!!!!!!!!

Stephen Mallia

Hey Walt,
It was great seeing you guys. The model was actually my girlfriend and Bill gave her the bust when it was finished. She is an Art History professor and is still amazed at how quickly he did it. The great part is it made the whole trip for her. So it won't be any problem getting her to more shows!
