Completed 200mm Laying in Wait

Hi all,
I finished this figure over a year ago but have never shown this figure in competition or on a forum. No real reason, just haven't.
He is a 200mm Mirage Stug Commander German WW11, modified with Youngs Miniatures head, painted in pea dot panzer suit.
The figure is situated in Villers Bocage, Normandy 1944, just waiting for a Churchill to come rolling by.
The figure is painted in acrylic, the tree is bog wood from a fish tank shop, the ivy leaves are individually made with Fimo Deco gel which are painted over photo etched leaves and dried with a heat gun. The tank barrel is from a radio control Panther and was a complete pain in the arse to get hold of!

Hi Sam!

Its wonderful conversion, the head from Young miniatures are very beautiful and the peadot camouflage are very nice to.
I never saw a 200mm panther barrel well done!!!!

I know you have added the youngs head but what about the rest of the figure? is this your own sculpt or bits taken from other 200mm kits etc.

Lovely job though mate and you seem to be improving all the time.

Hi Sam,

nice vignette, great idea for the setting, it does look cool in such large scale!
You haven't ask for criticism, but let me have one comment, it's a pity the camo wasn't more researched, as it's very far from the original pattern, it's not about your skills, the painting turned out nice, but a more authentic camo would have made it a real stunner, in my opinion. Again, please don't get me wrong, just this could be an improovement for you in the future, with almost no effort.

Sam - that's a very nicely painted figure, and the face is awesome.

But I'm going to be a lone voice of dissent here and say that I think the gun barrel detracts from rather than enhances it. It's an original idea I'll give you that, but it kind of looks like it's just floating in mid-air and a bit ... well ... strange.

The other guys (so far) appear not to agree and that's fine. Just my "two cents", take it or leave it.

In any event, thanks for taking time to share your work.

Nice work m8 and great pea - dot pattern, a small crit, I find his 5 o'clock shad a little strong to my eye, great work overall !

The Camo pattern is very wonderful, Sam.
I think it was very beautiful and built into a realistic soldier.
And the idea of a tube is very cool.
When this figure was 200mm, from what kit was a tube applied?
Anyway a fascinating masterpiece.

Steve thanks for looking I'm glad you have your two cents ! It was something I was toying with doing for a year or so n it cam out ok but if I was to do it again , I may have done it differently .

Rob I know what you mean about the 5oclock shadow it is very dark , I have since changed my approach to this ! Thanks mate
