Hi everybody.

I'm basically a painter and still a beginner at sculpting, but I love sculpting too.
And, I've been thinking to make use of these extra 1/9 german parts.

Here's the unfinished WIP head I posted a long time ago. Using this, give these extra parts place to live.

I refined face to make it look more like 'German Soldier'.

First I was planned to make it into a bust, but torso looked a little short and while I adding length to it I decided to make it into full figure.

Since this is my first 200mm full figure, I want to receive any comments, critiques, advices from you to make it into a good figure.

you know I like your illustrative sculptingstyle Kazz and I hope you will keep doing this next to your painting.
This already looks good, I only would not use his right shoe in this pose.
Perhaps create the shoes, boots yourself?

Of course I don't use this right shoe as it is. :) The shoes are just one of the extra parts I have. I'm not decided yet but I will convert it or build both shoes from scratch.

Yes it effects good on painting too, and vice versa.

I haven't decided which battle and uniform to choose but single color jacket or coat, with no camouflage.

1) Winter coat
2) Winter Parka
3) DAK (w/coat, or not)
4) Standard German Uniform

I'm not sure yet but something easier to sculpt.

Just an observation, I can only see it from the angles provided, but his right leg looks unlocked at the knee. His left is natural, but the right doesn't appear to be holding his weight. In that position, his body would be supported entirely by the right leg and in the first photo, he appears to be preparing for ballet. Please don't take that as insulting in any way. You do nice work, the 'animation' of the pose is always the hardest and most time consuming thing to get right, but well worth the effort.

The gun weight is balanced nicely, in the last photo, his upper arm appears long, but that might just be the angle.

The torso itself looks like it's holding the load well.

Thanks Jeff I understand what you mean completely, and I think you are right. I will modify around the right knee a little bit more.

No, not at all. This kind of critiques / advice is what I need and very very helpful. And you are right, animation is the most hardest part and time consuming thing but worth spend time on it. No paintwork can fix animation. Even the best painter in the world cannot save it.

Dear Kaz,
Very GOOD!!! It seems that you have been sculpting for years!!! I like the facial characteristics. They are German!!! I think that a DAK figure with short trousers will be something different!!

Hi Stelios,
Thanks a lot for your compliments!
I started full-scratch sculpting two years ago but as an etude, for studying anatomy.
(Here's my first try at sculpting, I think that is bad...:X3: : http://www.planetfigure.com/threads/french-navy-gunner-1914-scratch-built-200mm-bust.37698/)
I've tried sculpting 75mm, 90mm, and 120mm but never tried 200mm so that's why I'm giving it a try. :)

I like the facial characteristics. They are German!!!
I'm glad to hear that, Thanks! I've been referring many german faces, above all 'Oliver Kahn', a german football player. To me, (and most of Japanese think so), he is the typical German.

I think that a DAK figure with short trousers will be something different!!
I'm thinking DAK, but big buggy pants with long brown coat. Hm, short trousers is another option!

Kazz,

it's exactely the guy with this pipe that showed me your illustrative style with a keen eye for composition. There are very fine lines to be seen in your work filled with nice balance.
remarkable expression too.

go on, please :)

Hi Kazz, you're good. Procedures nicely.
Also, I just dealt with a similar issue. The whole figure or bust? I finally ended up at the bust with a complete hands. But watch the next time around I'll do the whole figure. I keep my fingers crossed.

Hi offo,

I stopped this project for now 'cause I've been busy working on other several commission works I have to finish first. :)
but I will restart it again, and I'm planning whole figure.
I don't satisfied with this quality and the pose. Maybe I will change the pose.

BTW, I love your crusader and huron busts. Will they be commercial? and I want to see your new similar one too!
