my last painting using 3 different figs which most of you will recognize.
The little drummer is really a beautiful fig (Nuts Planet ), made to go along with th colour Sergeant ( FeR miniatures) and I added a regimental flag (mitches military models).

as always , oil painted...
makes a change from the usual freehand work I am use to !

I had great pleasure in painting these figs, and as you probably guessed a little preference for the drummer !

Such skill invites admiration. Most expressive faces, very dramatic composition and well balanced, this is a 3D painting. You should be very proud.

Beautifully painted BUT I'm going to risk loads of whatever being poured over my head; there is a sculpting error on the standard. The central device is mis-oriented on one side. If you look at the second last photo the upper edge of the badge is incorrectly parallel to the staff. The third last photo shows the reverse which is positioned correctly, ie. one sides badge is out of position by 90 degrees. I have painted this figure and resorted to resculpting the incorrect badge. This is a great pity as the standard was superbly sculpted and here is superbly painted. I think at this point I'd be tempted to leave things as they are.

Sorry for that.

Beautiful vignette - really admire the dedication to bring these three challenging figures together.

Also on the flag point - I'm no expert on flags but I don't see a problem and think the previous post is viewing the flag folds wrong. To my eye the design on both sides of model is actually depicting the design from only one side of the flag and the fact the top of the emblem is running parallel to the staff is because the way it drapes has folded the top edge of the flag down along the long edge of the staff - so all matches up for me. Hope that makes sense.

Cheers

Just checked mine again & you're quite right Mat. This particular standard is in fact one side folded over & is correctly sculpted. It was the companion piece to this, the one holding the Union Flag, where there was the error I described. Sorry once again & I can only plead advancing years.
Now if only MMM would reissue this figure.

Oh good Geoff - I'm glad you took my comment in good spirit and also glad that you haven't resculpted something you didnt need to.
Agree it's a shame MMM streamlined out their 75mm range.
Cheers
