Hello Planeteers,

New project on my bench,

I have got these beautiful minis about 5 or 6 years ago, the are from Drabant Miniatures ( Russia) and unfortunately they are discontinued, currently the manufacturer just produce 28mm medievals .

This is my first ever project of the War of the Spanish succession, since i have very few figures i am planning to have abou 8 troops marching .

I came across this illustration and like it very much, i was not able to identify the regiment but a source of a later period refers to the facing color of the cuffs as dark rose .
I hope you enjoy it!

Hello Daniel,
I painted these figures myself many years ago, as 40mm figures go I would say that Drabant is certainly among the top makers.
With regards to the War of the Spanish succession, I can reccomend Ebor Miniatures although only 28mm they do quite an extensive range of most nationalities. I'm rambling on and forgetting the main reason for this post
your models look very impressive.

Interesting new project, never come across anything from this period before so even more interest. They are very nice looking figures and the paintwork so far is great. However, you haven't changed anything!

Cheers Simon

Thank you so much Malkie,

I agree with you, Drabant Is out there with the top Minis.
Cheers!

Thanks Mate,

I am excited to work on this period, don't know much and material is a little bit scarse.

Best regards!

Liking the start on the uniform Daniel ....

Really must get some of the AP Castle Gray

The chosen colours for the facings is going to work well

Look forward to the next update as always

Have fun at the bench

The coats are done,
At the beginning of 1700 , they were grey , gradually evolved to a ' pearl-grey' by 1710. Whatever pearl grey means haha, I have started them using Army painter Castle grey, added some off white and last lights addes white .
For shadows I added vallejo german grey to the castle grey.
The belts were natural leather, the cartridge boxes were of black leather.
I decided to try something that occurred to me at the moment to paint these cartridge boxes...I paint them in Red leather and gave them few light washes of vallejo black wash

, then added some edge lights adding some orange brown to the edges.

The coats look really good, Castle Grey sounds like a colour I'd find useful, damn just order other paints but not that.

Great idea on weathering the cartridge pouches, I do a similar technique but start with Cidadel Rhinox Hide, BT I think that would be too dark in your scale.

Got to say I love the Grenadier caps with the tail.

Cheers Simon

Hi Daniel

Must agree with the above last 2 illustrious members comments .....
Loving the whites ...ordered the Castle Grey as well

The way for the pouches looks good as does the headwear .....

Have a officer or 2 to add a Standard Bearer ?

Great updates

Looking forward to seeing more

Have fun @ the bench
