Not very familiar with the war of the Spanish succesion or the Great Northern War. I have already order this Book, hooefully i will get it soon :

Interesting looking book, then all of a sudden it's another fascinating branch of history to delve into, which wouldn't be so bad but there is a hell of a lot of history!

When you outline do you just use a darker version of the base colour ?

I agree, some of the uniforms did not change much until the SYW.

I've never thought I would paint Austrians, Swedish and Russians since most of what i paint is French Infantry.
This takes another whole research about diffrent uniforms and this is my first time painting an era I am not familiar with, so, I am excited with this project.

These 3 bodies are mainly done, gaiters and shoes need to be done, tomorrow i will add the left and right arms which are only painted with the base color.

As you say this is a very interesting period, one of my favourites. I like the fact that in many countries this period signalled the development of uniforms also the many esoteric units, hussars, pandours etc.

They look great, the shading in the grey works very effectively in this scale, excellent set of figures and it's good to get out of the comfort zone every now and then!

Yes, the more I look at these uniforms the more i get the impressiin that from 1700 and up , the uniforms started to become a little bit more standarized.
