Hi all,

I am painting a 43rd Monmouthshire Light Infantry officer. this regiment use a pelisse like the frenh-type pelisse that were used by the hussars. I note the color is grey (in the art box of this pegaso figure). In another place I saw the pelisse in red color. Could you help me in getting the correct color for my figure?

This is the Pegaso art box:

Gary. Thanks a lot for your quick answer. Could you tell me also what is the color for the cords?. Do you know any pic with this uniform?

Thanks a lot,

Rafa

I have the same thing too after just looking through MAA #400. It should be noted though that the wearing of a pelise was strictly not regulation but one of those "quirks" afforded the rank and status (monetary) of these light infantry officers. With that said, it is all together feasible that an officer would have different colors other than what we have already stated. Now that I have just muddied the water a little more....... , I'll go get on my plane.....Texas is calling.....

I knew I'd seen it somewhere. I've found Osprey MAA119 Wellington's Infantry 2 plate C1 officer 43rd wearing.......... grey pelisse with silver lace.
Caption reads,
" Napier mentions that officers of 43rd light Infantry adopted the fashion of wearing grey or scarlet pelisses during the peninsular campaign, with silk braid. The custom is confirmed by Chichester and Short in their " Records and Badges of the British Army".

Roger.
