Picked this up from Stormtrooper’s stand at the recent White Rose Show (together with their Officer 12th Foot). Both are super figures and have a great amount of detail. Having done the Officer with the yellow facings of the 12th I wanted to portray a regiment with different coloured facings so opted for the 51st. I’ve based it in the main on a drawing within the Osprey book Frederick the Great’s allies. The write up accompanying that drawing indicates it was based on a contemporary picture. They have shown Gosling green facings but my Franklin book for uniforms of the period suggests a darker Sea Green so I’ve gone with that. The original 51st surrendered at Fort Oswego in North America and were subsequently disbanded. The 53rd then became the 51st so believe it was that version of the regiment that was present at Minden.
Hope to see some more figures from this period from Stormtrooper’s.
