Well, I just finished my latest sculpt for Eolith Miniatures...

I've had the idea in my head for years now to do a small range of 54mm gothic horror pieces, mostly based on the classic icons though re-imagined in my own way. This one is the first, Frankenstein's Monster, a favourite subject of mine.

I decided, for this piece, to go with a scenic base which I think sets the scene quite nicely. When I prepare the pieces for casting I should be able to get the 'pylons' standing a bit straighter. Right now they're just balanced there and swaying a little.

Sculpted mostly in Procreate but had to open a new pack half way through. Unfortunately the new pack mixed much, much darker (it's all 50/50 mixes). So the dark bits don't look so great in a photo (look forward to seeing him cast up for a better idea). On the bright side you can see a little of what bits were sculpted last...

Been an interesting process and he's quite a departure from my normal work. With luck he'll be successful and I can do some more horror subjects. A good chance of Dracula being tackled next (and I have loads of other ideas I'd like to try).

That is really well sculpted. The only thing that I'm not too crazy about is the hook. Maybe you could include an alternate left arm with a hand instead of the hook. ~Gary

This should prove popular. I've had a look around at your site and I like what I see, I'll be placing an order in the very near future (shhhhh, don't tell SWMBO;) ); you do ship world wide right?

Nice work Steve. Classic movie monsters'll give you a lot of material for any future projects :)

Wow, that's some difference! I wonder if it's a QC issue or they've decided to make it darker for better visibility?

I have emailed Bob at Kraftmark but no reply as yet. I don't like the new colour but they may have made the grey component darker (it's black now) to aid full mixing.

The sculpting is very good, and in 54mm too.

You have hopes of doing this as a commercial release, yes?

I would still give the option of a left hand; yes, major pain in the pants, the market will rapidly show you what they prefer, in the form of orders and sales....

Trite, and true. Most consumers are conditioned by Hollywood and other mainstream media as to "What looks right"

So while I applaud your sculpting skills (Very talented, by the way), I wouldn't like to see your display of skills to a broader market limited because of the public's preconceived perceptions.

Still, great sculpting, and I look forward to seeing more of your work!

Cheers

Thanks everyone. Yes, this is for commercial release through my company, Eolith Miniatures. Cast in resin. Should be on sale in the next few weeks. Just been cutting and spruing today. Hope to get started on Dracula in the next few days :)
