This is a 54mm Latorre figure from the era of the ACW (American Civil War) of a Lieutenant serving with the 5th Georgia Infantry. The unit was known as the Clinch Rifles, 1862. The figure was painted with oils. Critical comments from you fine ladies and gentlemen, fellow Planeteers, are most welcome. Rick Brownlee. A.k.a. The Miami Jayhawk. . . . Kansas Kid.

That coat is well painted. I finished this one recently too, it's great figure to paint up, as most of Latorre's are.
if I was going to be really critical, I'd say that the white of the eyes are too 'white', otherwise - nicely done indeed there mate.

Hello BP, and thank you so much for your candid remarks. Yes,
I agree, most all of the Latorre figures I have really are of top
quality. Regarding the eyes. . . . ah yes, you are dead on the point.
This figure was done some time ago, in my beginning stage of
figure painting. Plus I am really an aged senior, and even with an
Opti-visor, my vision just isn't quite that good for eyes regarding
54mm or 1:32nd or 1;35th scale faces. Alas, . . . but we keep trying
to refine and to grow. . . . Happy Holidays to you BP. . . . Rick

Good morning, Joe: (it's 0630 hrs. here in the
American Heartland) It's so good of you to chime
in regarding my Latorre figure. I do appreciate
your kind words. I wish you and your family
the most meaningful of holidays. Jayhawker :)

Excellent work Rick. The coat and details are well done. Love the red lining in the hat. The skin tones are excellent and the hair really matches. I agree about the eyes, they are tricky to paint in such small scale. One trick I sometime use is to not paint the white at all. Just paint a dark line and maybe a hint of a iris. Gives a kind snake eye look but often works, especially on small scale figures.

Best regards and happy holidays from a snowy Stockholm /Lars

Good morning, Lars: And thank you for your encouraging words. Also, I'll
give that "painting eyes in 54mm" technique a try. Thanks for mentioning it.

Rick

Nicely done Rick. I've nothing to add to the previous comments but to compliment you on a job well done.

Cheers
