Guys, having trouble with a 54mm head on a Art Girona Kit I bought at MFCA. Would like to swap out the head. Any ideas? I know Historex makes some but have not seen them, any other out there? Thanks.

Larry

Pegaso, Mussini and Shenandoah make some bare heads that may fit the bill. Metal Modeles will sell individual pieces as well I understand. Red Lancers and Sentinel sell the resin Historex heads. They come with and without headgear.

Yes, I've used s few. They are detailed pretty well. Some are nearly as good as Hornet. I did have to rework the eyelids on one head. It looked good until I tried to paint the eyes, and I could tell it was too soft in detail, but not a big deal. The head on Cockrell's Brigade is the reworked one.

Nice piece John, I like it a lot. OK thanks I appreciate the advice. Take care.

Historex head sets include pieces of different quality. While most of them are ok, be ready to find a couple of not-so-good heads in every set.

Metal Modeles also sells head sets of excellent quality. They also have weapons, equipment and arms sets.

Hi Larry, I have a number of the Historex resin head sets (sculpted by Julian Hullis). The sculpting of most is very good and the casting of almost all of mine was excellent, but as mentioned there's the occasional weaker one. As to detail, the hair is sculpted a little soft on these for my taste but I re-sculpt this anyway.

BTW, they are intended for Historex-sized figures, so if the Art Girona figure in question is actually 54mm tall or so, and not around the 60-64mm size of many '54s' these days, the heads could well be too big.

Einion

As Einion said, heads (and figures) marketed as 54mm can be very different in size. I've succesfully used those by Metal Modeles, Shenandoah and Historex (of course) on Historex bodies, which are supposed to be 1/30th-60mm scale.

What figure is the head for? Art Girona's "54mm" figures also have different sizes, depending on the sculptor.

Anyone know how to get the Metal Modeles heads? I've tried e-mailing them, checking their site and nothing.

I would have to agree with Einion that they might be too big- however what about the newer ones Einion? Arent's they smaller (I think ala Nemrod or some other brand)?
