Hello all,
Just finished sculpting this figure of Sgt Thomas Plunkitt,a well known caracter who served for many years with the 95th.His most famous moment was when he shot and killed a French general and then the generals aid who rushed to his rescue over a distance of several hundred yards.
The figure needs some clean up now and the base to be finished off ready for painting. As usual all comments and critique welcome.

Well done. It looks as if the garment could use some more fold details at the shoulders and elbows to blend them into the figure just a tad more, but over all a well proportioned and smart looking figure!

Nice job - One question - shouldn't the jacket have short tails? I am rusty on my British Napoelonic uniform but that's waht I recall. Perhaps these were removed in the Penninsula for patching material?

Just a thought.

Hi Colin thanks for the reply, the reference i have on the 95th show a waist length jacket,i am not aware of any other style.

Enlisted men and NCOs wore a jacket with a very short tail that is often obscured in pictures by the ammo pouch, bread bag and bayonet/sword. See the attached link for a print that shows this. Check out the relevent Osprey books too. Shouldn't be too hard to add this tail to your figure even at this stage. Officers wore dolmans w/o tails.

Hope this helps.

Colin looking again after your last post i have to agree with you about the small tail, thankyou for pointing this out and i will rectify it on the figure.

Much appreciated

Steve
