The 'Thraex' gladiator class was armed with a 'Sica' weapon which had a pronounced curved blade for thrusting around and over the lip of a shield and not what appears here to be a standard Roman gladius issued to the likes of Mirmillo fighters. Shields were also almost universally depicted as small square ones but other shapes like this one are possible I suppose. The rest of the equipment looks fine .

If complete accuracy isn't an issue, it's still a very nice figure and with a dynamic pose.

Hi Gary, Being a re-edition of a piece formerly owned by a IL FEUDO, we believe that the sculptor took inspiration from the discovery of the gladiator armour now on display in the Colosseum Archaeological Park, in particular this one, we believe.

No doubt it is gladiator armour in the photograph (the feathers, leather and clothing are certainly reproductions so is the armour original as well as it looks incredibly bright for 2000 years old metal ?) but it is not necessarily for a Thaex; a spear certainly isn't. I wasn't aware this was an earlier Il Fuedo release and so accept that when originally conceived and sculpted, the wealth of information now on the internet possibly wasn't available to the sculptor who like all of them, cannot be exact or knowledgeable on each and every subject they attempt. Irrespective, it's a very nice figure as I said and I hope it does well for you.
