For this latest piece I decided to go back into the grey army box and finally complete the old stormtroopers bust of the 54th Massachusetts,I must have purchased this well over 5 or 6 years ago,but as I have a love of ACW subjects it was one I was always going to paint,it was just a matter of when I’d do it.
The piece was produced round about 2014/15 I think by Stuart Hale at Stormtroopers and sculpted by Carl Reid.
Its a great movement piece which is what drawn me to it,I love anything with movement in it,and Carl has captured this very well in this piece.
Anyone familiar with the ACW will know that the 54th took part in the assualt on Fort Wagner in July 1863,the movie Glory portrayed this very well.
I don’t believe the bust is available anymore sadly,it was produced in resin with some lead foiled for the musket straps.
A great little piece I’m happy to have in my ACW collection.

Beautifully rendered piece mate, he fading and weathering on the uniform is excellent and the face really is fantastic, love it.

Cheers Simon
