The photo shown was posted by a member called Abbo .....was so impressed I saved the thread for when I get round to finishing this figure
 
I'm in the process of painting this my self can anybody tell me if the helmet plate is gold or silver?...Thanks

This one dates at 1854, the same date that the photo that inspired Moz to sculpt this figure.

Thanks for the pic....The outer part of the central plate looks silver to me is that the case(sorry eyesight not what it was)

I know where you are comiing from with the ever fading eyesight.
The very centre oval of the badge has the VR cypher and belt with the regiment title and is gilt. This is set into a star which is silver. The rest of the helmet is gilt.
