Hi Hendryk ,

I have this on my bench as well ...only primed !!!!

This has great facial features and expressions which allows the painter to really enjoy himself ..like your fleshwork .

.......... if I might be so bold I would tone down the hair a bit looks very yellow in the pics IMO ...........

.......... also I presume you still have to do the cap pompom (shows as white in pic) , I also would fix it closer to the top of the cap..again IMO !!!

Like the uniform colour you have done nice shading and highs

Straps/Belts look good as well

Thanks for sharing

Hi Hendryk,

You asked about the pommel on top the cap , I have a had a look and White is a possible colour(There is also a plate in Military Uniforms of the 19th Century page 102 which shows white)

Blue is also a possible denoting infantry .

(Artillery could be Red, Cavalry Yellow ) see plate from Uniforms of the United Staes Army by H A Ogden (Plate 21 ..this shows the period 1851-4 but I cannot see any reason why Militia would not have followed this pattern as well .

As with all uniforms there were many differences particularly in the Militia ..often within the same unit .

Hope this is of some help to you
