How about a monocle for that eye? The way the eye looks squeezed down is not 100% right for a monocle, but maybe it is close enough. I don't know the scale of this bust, but I've used clear acetate for spectacle lenses. A monocole made of clear acetate with a bit of fine lead wire would be fairly easy to produce in any scale. Just a suggestion.

All the best,
Dan

Thank you Keith, I'm enjoying the oils and find them much easier to use than I ever thought possible.

Thanks Dan, another good suggestion, however I've bitten the bullet and took a scalpel to the offending eye :wideyed: Whether I've done the right thing remains to be seen but it's done now.

Hi Roger,
Now that's a serious step up in scale for you. Very nice start mate with the flesh tones, are you painting the whole lot in oils or just the face? I know what you mean about the eyes I think in future I'm going to smooth the eye sockets over first. Nice to see another apprentice in the Steve Kirtley bust painting challenge. I will be following this one mate. Good luck.
cheers
Richie

Hello Richie, thanks. Apart from the drama with the eyes, which I think I've sorted, it's not the hugely difficult process I once thought.
That little meeting in Darlo opened up a whole new aspect of the hobby..... and we didn't get our cars nicked either!

Roger.

Did you perform some strange ritual over your non flat figure, like throwing the chicken bones over it.:nailbiting::woot:

Yes I painted my helmet!
