I stand corrected Don... I meant 1/32 scale then. 54mm is a catch all term that. although certainly not standard, is usually larger than 1/35 figures. The smallest "54mm" in my collection (an Art Girona Rifleman) is still larger than a 1/35 Dragon figure.

When conparing figs from different manufacturers, I don't compare the figure so much as things that should be the same size no matter how big the figure is ie muskets, swords, headgear etc.

I think when we talk about 1/35 and 54mm and so on... we know what each other mean, don't we?

Yes, you and I probably understand what we mean. Hey, I refer to "54mm" figs all the time, so I'm not setting myself apart here. 1/35, 54mm, 1/32, 1/30 - if I like the figure, I buy it.
Anyway, to put this back on track, when I see this box, I'll likely get one.

I have this set of figures also, they are very well sculpted and for their size, nicely detailed.
They are unfortunately in true 1/35 scale and much smaller than all other 54mm scale figures that I have, I am also pretty sure that the other figures in the diorama shown are not from Shenandoah.
The other Western box set they released is also excellent, of which I posted on here for criticism, under the name Blood Trail. Might be going to Glasgow Model show this year

Dear friends,
I am building dioramas from 1992 and mostly figures from 1999 and believe me even if the scale is 54 mm the figure could be 60-65 mm (metal figures mostly are bigger than 54 mm) and in 1/35 we can see a big difference. Such as Verlinden figures are bigger than Tamiya, Masterbox, Tristar etc, and match more to some Dragon kits. Also the Hornet heads are better for using with the three first companies instead of Dragon or Verlinden. So we have to make a small research. The thing is that I will buy a set if I like it and I will try to use it probably alone (3 mounted figures!!) or combined them using another set as all of Master box figures most of the time have interchangeable parts.

Michael, I have more than half of those Shenandoah figures in my grey army. Not sure who carries them in the UK, but check Military Miniatures Warehouse's site, or the Shenandoah site itself, if you're not convinced.

Stelios, I agree, and will probably follow your approach. We may have some time to wait for Confederates, however - note that the box art is dated 2010!!

I found a very useful photo etched set from Aber (35249). So if you want you could upgrade the Master Box Set (MB3550)of the 3 mounted figures with this set. For more information look at the Aber's site that they have put the photo etched pieces already on to the figures! Look for at your favorite shop or dealer.

Any body know if MasterBox or Dragon publish this injected figures in 70mm size? Or another company made injected figures in 70mm?

Dear Giro,
From what I know the Germany Company Preiser has injection moulded figures in 1/24, 1/25 about 75mm but as all we know the scale sometimes is not exact size. You can check out and see if they fit to your needs.

Mr Models has them , I got mine from them at Crewe . The Napoleonics which are coming out in 1/32nd scale are still a dream away but going by Masterbox quality from previous kits I'll get all of them as soon as they're available .

I was shocked that Dragon chose Union infantry; the Confederates seem to have the same "mystique" as WWII German figures. Both regimes lost, yet both are massively over-represented in the hobby, especially the Germans in styrene. If one were to have built and painted every German figure ever manufactured in 1/35 scale, they'd probably have the equivalent of several divisions, if not an entire field army.

Why rant at all? In the hobby models of Romans outnumber their barbarian opponents by far, the same for crusaders over muslim warriors, French napoleonic troops over all other nations that defeated them finally, British colonial troops (especially Crimea) over others from that period, French troops from the Second Empire over their German opponents that won the war of 1870 and in more modern times: US subjects of the Vietnam War can just rarely be placed next to models of Vietcong or troops of North Vietnam - not to speak about terrorists and modern crusaders...
It is a hobby and I liked the Dragon releases of Yankees and would have liked to see their Rebel oponents to be released as well. Good to see now that masterbox is exploring more subjects of that period. They even thought about new themes to display German WWII-troops that were never done before although there are so many of them in styrene.
Keep the new releases coming - no reason to rant!
