I used to have trouble with the red on other ranks tunics but I now use the Andrea red paint set and have found that quite good.

I was looking at the Andrea set but have sort of made up my own set from the Vallejo colours, but will have a look again when the bottles run down, thanks.

Many thanks Chris, the face is next but I need 1-2 hours for that and I have a busy morning, the wife has told me, so must give her some of my attention before I shut myself away up in the Hanger(mancave).

Ready mixed colours but I am going to need another set........

Work done on the face with my usual oil-based Artist's oils.



Will leave him to dry a bit them do a bit more. While I had the Raw Umber out I thinned it down and gave the hair a good wash as a base coat, then can highlight later.

Thanks Scottie, I am surprised it is so bright as I used a pale grey for it but it shouldn't be a problem to use a very thinned Artist's oils grey wash over the whole band using a wide flat brush.

Thanks Mick, pleased you like him so far, no mate it's the weekend and I don't tend to do much modelling as it's wifey time, back at it tomorrow plus I am trying to slow down.

No prob mate the Artist's oil paint I will use is Davy's Gray, it has a warm tint to it.

Scotty is this better, no need the thin the Davy's Gray it is quite a weak colour, so straight out of the tube and brushed and dabbed on.

I've been quite busy on him today, pin-washing, bonnet feathers and plume highlighted, cross-belt plaque and buttons plus leather belt and buckles, then a dirty up after the battle, but not overdone, can always add more. Fixed head on.



Still a bit more to do, next couple of days he will join the Army downstairs.
