95th Rifles

OK everyone I know I am new to this so don't all shout at me at once. But can anyone recommend a good accurte acrylic for the 95th Rifles green tunics and trousers. Preferably on that dosen't require mixing, although this wouldn't be a problem.

I painted a 95th Rifles figure recently and used Vallejo Black Green (980) as a base colour. Then I just added black to shade and small amounts of flesh to highlight.

I use Citadel Dark Angels Green and black 50/50.
Increase the black for the shadow, less for the lights.
You'll need a touch of Tamiya X21 flat base, as the green tends to go shiny.
I'd use X21 whatever green you use, as I've found them all shiners,

Bugger Carl beat me to it but you can also use Knarlock (sp?) Green from Citadel for a more worn/distressed look if thats what you want

If you are using Vallejo acrylics you might try this:

Base- 970 Deep Green
HiLite- 970 + 955 Matt Flesh (add a touch of 953 Matt Yellow for further highlights)
Shade- 970 + 950 Black

Or if you need it to be a little darker:

Base- 970 Deep Green + 950 Black
HiLite- Base + 970 + 845 Sunny Skin Tone
Shade- Base + a little more 950 Black

The ratios of the above mixes are strictly by eye... add and adjust to suit what you need.
As to the gloss issue, yes, for whatever reason, the green family does tend to be a bit glossy. With Vallejos, sometimes if you pop the tip off the bottle and stir it with a bit of wire, then recap and shake the hell out of it and apply the base in a number of thin coats... it seems to go on a little flatter. A touch of 984 Matt Brown added to the base can tone down the hard "green" tone for a slightly worn look and help with the gloss as well.

Can't stress shaking/stirring Vallejo colours enough!!!!
