9th Regiment Hussars,Jacques Joseph Brassines - 90mm from Metal Modeles

Hello all fellow PF members. Here I present you a classic piece, that I loved as soon as it was released from Metal Modeles. It's at 90mm. The boxart represents the 5th Regiment of Hussars, but I chose a different one, the 9th. Here I would like to thank my good friend Marcello Grimaldi who gave a real name to the figure and a little historical background: Jacques Joseph Brassines, born at Wavre (Province belge of Brabant) on 20 November 1772. Recruited in the 9th Hussars on 28 May 1793. Promoted to various grades, until captain on the 11 June 1811, before to start in 1812 for Russia, where he was blessed at Moskowa battle. Promoted chef d'escadron on 17 July 1813, passing to the 25th regiment of Chasseurs cheval de la Ligne.

As usual really outstanding work. But i have to neatpick something..
That lace, well i'm not so satisfied with the color you gave it.
And, i must say, your shading and highlights are not to your high standard.
But you must excuse me, when it is all gone by the lighting for the picture.
Anyway, i hope i can paint someday a Napoleontic figure just like you did this one.

Jay, Marc and Guy thanks a lot for your valuable comments.
Marc regarding the lace I will agree with you, I can't paint good NMM gold lacing yet. At least at this scale. It was a good try though. Regarding the shadows and lights, I'm quite satisfied but the photos make the colors really flat indeed.
Guy It was a good practice to work on something bigger. To be honest I really enjoy it, and I believe that it's good to work on something bigger any now and then.

It's always great to see a 'belgian figure' (extra point on that!).
I also find the shading a little unfinished, but as you say it can be the pictures.

Hi Xenofon,
Good painting, but why did you paint the braids of the waistcoat in such a greenish yellow? The colour of the cloth is sky blue as the collar and the cuffs, but the braids are gold, as the braids of the dolman. So, a little touch of ochre, yellow and gold there, come on!
