I would like to publicly thank Jamie (aka Janus) and Tony Dawe and everyone else that put their thought into sending me and "mrs busso_boy" a wedding present on behalf of the Australian figure modelling fraternity and Planet figure in general.

I was mystified when i arrived home last night to find a massive big box on my front door step and totally lost for words when opening it i found a large piece of Tasmanian Huon Pine that has been made into a clock/barometer (picture will be posted soon i promise) as a gift on behalf of Planet Figure and those that i have had the honour to of called customers over the last 4 years of running Empire Hobbies. it has made me speachless which for those of you who have met me will know is a hard task.

Since the demise of Seil (my largest brand at the time) i have given thought to winding down the Empire as it has been a hard slog to replace such a large portion of my bussiness. But this has resoved me to carry on trying to serve the Australian Figure painting public to the best of my ability.

Once again from both Kim and myself a hearty big thank you for your thoughts and good wishes for our up coming wedding (and a small reminder that Empire Hobbies will be closed from the 5th to the 21st of March while we honeymoon in Tasmania)

Regards Ian (aka busso_boy)

Ian,
Better to be late then never.,but i hope you apreciate my congratulations from this side of the world.
Congratulations with your wedding, and have many good times together.

Marc

Patrick, Marc, Thank you for your wishes........i am truely blessed to be marrying my best friend. it may of taken me 40 odd years to find her but the wait has been more than worth it. she is also a fellow figure painter so how can i go wrong :)

Tony, Jamie is a legend in my eye's and Kim & I are looking forward to meeting him for a few quiet ale's when in Tassie

Just sending my best wishes to the to be wedded couple!!

Ian is a lucky fella to have a lady who has an interest in the same hobby!
So could only wish them both the Best!!

And why not also include Best wishes from the freinds of Empire Hobbies and Planet Figure :D:D

Hope to catch up with the lovely couple for a drink or two when they are over!!

Cheers

PS; Tony, too kind....I think I may be in 'Aw, shucks" mode now:eek:

Picture of the Clock

Ian is probably doing his best to help Mrs Busso Boy with last minute wedding events, so here is a pic of the piece.

Its a fairly big piece - that's a 40cm ruler to help scale it out.
The plaque is on the back, so as to keep the character of the piece.

Looking forward to catching up with the happy couple....cool stuff!!

cheers

PS - feeling a bit sheepish about this, but its for a good cause; a good bloke marrying a good lady!

thanks again Jamie, i was trying to find a way of taking pics of it with both myself and my much better looking 1/2 with my ugly melon cracking the lens on the camera.

the picture cannot describe how wonderful huon pine smells

P.S. i google the distillery you mentioned...........i am really looking forward to that

Ian,

From what Jamie told me, the Huon Pine timber this clock is set in is over 1,000 years old.

It was growing in a peaceful valley in the Tasmanian forest long before the Norman Conquest of England or the first Crusade to the Holy Lands.

Now that's what I call a time piece.

Howdy,
just had the couple who made the piece, Valdi & Jan, come around for a coffe.
talk about really great people, lots of laughs, lots of fun.

Anyway, I gave them a print out of this thread, and they were really pleased with it. So thanks for your replies, the makers (they refuse to class themselves as artists) were very pleased to get that kind of feedback!

so big thanks from Valdi & Jan

Cheers
