As I read the tagline about recasting, which I agree with 100%. I bit confused about what makes a figure a recast? I'm working on a 1/10th bust using the old monogram Vietnam War memorial figure as my base. I made a copy of the head to use a reference for eye nose and mouth placement, everything else is my own work, and the build is more to show how to reuse spure. Any thoughts as weather to post or not? I'd hate to be labeled a recaster.

Hi capt,
No, this is not a recast..just a conversion for your own requirements! so rest assured that you won't get labelled! :)
I recast my own stuff for my own use & categority do not cast for profit...so it all okay...
The misconception of casting is that all people who do it are pirates but I do it for my own pleasure as I make my own vaccuum & pressure casting equipment (I also made my own airbrush compressor system as well!), so carry on with your conversions & enjoy it & I look forward to the results!

A recast is a direct copy of an existing figure which is sold for profit. I do not see any problems with using an existing figure as a mannequin providing that all (80%?) of the detail is removed and the resulting figure is not identifiable from the original.
