Afternoon folks :)
After a slight delay (I've a few other projects on the go which I'm hoping around with) here's where we've got to with the knight. I've added the girth strap even though it won't be seen under everything else, but it was fun to have a go at making it when there's no real pressure to get spot on since no eagle eyed viewer will see all the flaws.
Saddle blanket is rolled putty sheet which was made oversize and flopped into place with plenty of talc. When it was dry I removed it and trimmed it up and dressed the edges then glued it in place. The knight needed a little drastic pruning and a pin added for position. Since I like riders to look like they are sitting on a living creature and squash onto them with gravity rather than perch up in the air I needed to cut away some of the underside of the knight and remove his coat tails and then carve away a chunk of my lovely blanket . Once I was happy with the 'seat' I plopped a blob of putty in place for the saddle seat and pushed the knight onto it (having added talc first) Remove the knight and you are left with a nicely formed saddle which can then be shaped as shown. :)

Cheerio

Cheers guys :)
Excellent project, Paul! I may have missed this, but is the horse resin or styrene?

Your putty work is outstanding!

Prost!
Brad

Many thanks Brad - the horse was the old Airfix Cuirassier one (plastic) with some added details, but to be honest it's a cracking horse as it stands especially given it's age.
Cheers

Very nice work Paul,
I look forward to seeing this come together.
Excellent use of an old faithful Airfix kit.
I've still got quite a few kits that I bought very cheaply when they were being withdrawn from production.
Must go and have a furkle through that old box.

Cheers,
Andrew
