WIP A Classic Subject: Gericault Gi Chasseur

some update, horse was filled with putty and some work is started on the man.
I used the MM AdC legs because they have the right torsion, the bust come from the colonel of the Hussars


legs and bust are filled, I'm not sure i will not need modifications

PS this is a very brave conversion with some pretty expensive MM stuff being chopped up.

after the start, critica details begin to be apparent...
the body of the horse was too long and I shortened it a couple of mm, the rear left leg isn't so "forced" and I cut it moving it behind. The left leg has a very critical position, not realistic but very useful to give dramaticy to the painting.



soon I'll work on the neck

horse's neck is going to change, I did many tests before chosing one. I cut it for some mm...


the right arm continue to change position....

anhoter update, the busby has been resculpted to change the cords, the right arm was sculpted around a copper wire with a MM hand


front and rear side...

we are improving, not finished yet but better

another update and some other changes, the head of the horse has been cut to select the new position. Pictures are very useful in this case to compare the different solutions

Here is something I have noticed. Position of the hussar from painting is much more twisted competing to your figure. It is a torso as well as hips.
Overall it is great. I wish I could do such a things.

one of the most critical things is the pelisse, I cut a MM pelisse in two parts saving the lace area, then I reduced their thikness to have them easy to be flexed



I later glued the two parts in position and I connected them with an A&B foil.
The sleeves start on a copper wire using the MM terminal

The front part of the pelisse was equally reduced to lean against the neck of the horse

Ivo - wouldn't it be easier to sculpt him from scratch - it looks like you are pretty close to doing that anyway.

Hi Ivo,
I like to add my version of the famous picture that I did some time ago, using
and transforming Historex parts. Especially difficult was the to match the position of the Officer and the horse that seems a bit forced to me.
The figure was a Silver at the UK Scale Modelworld 2000

thanks for posting your version, it's really good and I agree with you about the position. The painting looks very good but a man will have probel to stay in the same position.

Anyway I'm trying to stay as closer as possible to the painting...
