A Fixture
As the title hints at, I have bought a couple of busts from El Greco, consistent great service from them .
Both are a bit different for me for two reasons. First up is the simply gorgeous ‘Autumn Nostalgia’ 1/10 scale bust from Taurus Miniatures. This is different as it is a ‘civilian’ figure which I wanted as it also represents my other passion, Photography. I was a bit concerned by the big maple leaf button hole but I am pleased to see it is a separate part and just needs the ‘stalk’ trimming off the figure. The camera, a 70’s style rangefinder 35mm is very nicely depicted and detailed even down to the textured ‘leather’ trim and film advance lever.
The clothing appears to be 60’s - 70’s with a separate peak to the iconic cap of the period. The coat is well detailed as is the camera strap. All in all, a gem.
The next offering is a sublime 1/16 scale bust from Lab-54 of a 13 cent ‘Scottish Laird’.
I say sublime because I was totally bowled over by the pure quality of the sculpting and casting of this little bust, it is stunning. I got this because I wanted to see if I could cope with the small sized busts and, to be honest, I wasn’t expecting anything this good so I dropped lucky on my first choice. The bust comes with two separate braided hair pieces that will hang naturally from the temples. It would have been easy to have sculpted this into the head but this is going to make it much better having them separate. Never done a tartan before and the size of this isn’t going to help but I will have a go.
Here are the two busts to show the relative sizes
Both of these busts were featured on this forum a couple of years ago but I have seen neither painted up as yet. Looking forward to doing them, they are both superb.
