A Fixture
This week I had a day out with my grandson . Nothing spectacular , I just wanted to show him some of the history that is in our area that is no more than an hours drive away . These are places I use to travel through regularly when working and never stopped off to see them . First is a place called Faulkland a beautiful old village that still has the original stocks on the village green , the phone box has been turned into a library and there's a sign to slow down to allow ducks to cross the road . next we went to Norton St Phillip to see the oldest Inn in England serving beer for over 700 years , it carries a lot of history . Next we went to Farley Hungerford for a picnic lunch and a ruined castle . The castle was not as much for defence as it was for prestige . The family become very powerful and wealthy although scandal ran through much of their time while they owned castle .
And finally we stopped off just 3 miles from home to show my grandson a church that is older than the Leaning tower of Pisa and it's tower leans over at a greater angle than Pisa .
We are surround by beautiful country with history everywhere . I just wanted to share with you .
