The title paraphrases Lloyd George's promise to the UK soldiers of the Great War. But, as with many political promises, this was not to be...
I'm looking for a particular picture of a British family post-war sitting on a bed in the squalor of a one or two room apartment. It's a simple, well-composed black and white photo. The bed has, to the best of my recollection, iron posts and back, a chest of drawers with a basin on top of it. Mother, father and two or three children, one of whom is a babe in arms. The squalor is oppressive and obvious. I think it's an illustrated newspaper photo - maybe part of a social commentary article ca. 1920.
I've seen it only a few times. Lengthy Google or Yahoo image searches failed to pull up the image, unfortunately.
Anybody seen this photo?
All the best,
Dan
