Anyone who has a dog, or who has ever taken one for a walk, will know
that they are obsessed with smells. With noses glued to the ground and
tails at the wag ecstatically, they sniff their way about, trailing something
smelly - if they could speak they would probably say "Hmm....Yummy!".

Humans of course with better things to do don't normally share this source
of fun - until that is, they return to their workbench and become aware again
of that glorious smell of oil paint. A mixture of linseed, pigment, and all the
other aromatic stuff so addictive that they find themselves leaning forward
a bit to sniff more deeply......Hmm....yummy !

I used to like the smell of oil paint, but it was the smell of turpentine which nearly finished me off. Humbrol enamel thinners has the same effect, makes me cough like I’ve just smoked 40 Benson & Hedges!

That’s why I started using Tamiya acrylics through the airbrush, & the dark side of Vallejo for everything else........

Mike ….You should have been a poet.....I personally prefer the subtle smell of acrylics and walking my two dogs down the street, and then holding my breath as I casually use a doggie bag and nonchalantly pick up the shit from my neighbors yard and I think to myself "Oh, what a wonderful world".

Yes! The smell of model paints does evoke memories and happy feelings.
This hobby is meditation - no doubt about it.

Yeah, but you found the golden rivet.;)
Whereas, I've always preferred plastic.
