I've been using a technique on painting metal armour on figures for some time now by stipplying a mixture of oil paints directly onto the metal with pleasing results.Up to now I didn't seal the finished results but now I want to.Here's the problem you can get Gloss Varnish Acrylic Spray and Satin Acrylic Spray in cans but i'm concerned that if i use the wrong type of spray I could end up with a different finish to the armour. All I want to do is seal the finished armour as I've achieved the desired result I want.Is there such a product??

Hi Brian,Hope you are well.
Your post got me thinking, as you say all varnishes have a finish, ie gloss, satin, matt.
I wonder, and just a stab in the dark, would mig productions fixer work.
It is used for fixing pigments but I would have thought would seal it in.
The other I have used before is tamiya clear but mixed with proportions of tamiya flat to give the required finish, more clear the shinier, more matt more satin but like you say it would have to match the finish you have already. I used it on a Poste Militaire Vlad and it came out nicely.
I add by brush as it frosts if sprayed.
Just some ideas and hope not teaching you to suck eggs :))
Best wishes and great to meet you at Euro.

Hi Gra
Your certainly not teaching me to suck eggs as your never to old to learn something new.I've used Tamiya smoke thinned down with water but the finish wasn't really that good.I'll try the Mig productions fixer and I didn't realise that there was a Tamiya clear. Thanks for your input as it's much appreciated.
