I have a figure I'd like to paint a tattoo on and I was hoping I could get some advice from those with experience here. I'd like the figure to have the look of an ancient tattoo... like you might see on a Celt or Roman. So I think it should look a little faded. Would you recommend mixing the color (say blue or black) with the skin tone before painting or paint the normal color and then glaze over it with a thinned down version of my skin tone? Any advice on how to achieve the ancient/tribal tattoo look would be much appreciated. Thanks!

I'm working with acrylics, by the way.

I can only offer real life tattoo advice which would be to glaze it over replicating the actual tattoo process and use a washed out colour, they would not have had the vivid inks we use today
