i will be having soon but the date is not coming but mean while i was told to pick up and either get rid of what i do not need and save what i do need but right i have too much to save does anybody where or who i can give some the figures that i can no longer can do anymore because mainly my age which is 70 years old even though i do not feel the age but there are things that i used to do which i can't do any more just as long walks three words -type2-diabetes so if anybody can help me please do so ?

I too have reached 70, and just been diagnosed with Type 2 as well. I'm carrying on, so my eyes arn't what they used to be, and the body creaks a little more, and I don't figure in the ranks of competition winners any more, so now, I do figures FOR ME. As long as I can get more pleasure than regrets, I'll keep enjoying the hobby, and you should too. Give it a re-think, and remember the pleasures and comradeship, and keep going. Ray

Couldn't agree more, Ray....I'm Type 2 as well........I'm now coming up to 72 and enjoying my painting more than ever, even though I've had to kiss 54mm goodbye, I find 75mm ideal.
I also enjoy long walks with my disabled neighbour's Border Terrorist. We go out over the fields and have adventures. Yes, the old arthritis plays me up a bit, but the secret is not to let these things grind you down (pun intended !) The only thing I've given up of any consequence is my motorcycling, as I no longer felt safely in control. If your're not fully in control, you put yourself and other road users at risk, and it ain't worth it:cool:

What makes you think you have to ‘keep up’ with anyone? It’s a hobby and hobbies are for pleasure not for competing with people. I certainly use brushes as do a lot, if not most, of the people on here.

You don’t have to please anyone but yourself.

If it's any consolation, I dont possess an airbrush, at all - nor do I intend ever using one. Im happy with a brush for everything and I paint for me, no one else - its a massive boost if anyone else likes my stuff. I say stick with it, if you enjoy it, its your hobby..!(y)

Using an Airbrush is just another techniqe, I believe in "Horses for Courses"Stick with what you're used too, and ENJOY the hobby!! Perhaps we could instigate a new competition class for "Not quite as we were,Disabled Vets" and compete on a more level playing field, after all, we do it for Juniors!!! Ray

Marc, don't worry about not using an airbrush. It's not necessary for painting figures. Just keep picking up the brush and paint, paint, paint!

I hope we'll get to see you at MFCA in a couple of weeks!

Prost!
Brad

you will as always but as far as brushes are concert i recently brought a number 5 W&N series 7 for large scale busts and other figures .

Nos. 1,2 and 3 are perfect for busts. Suggest you take a look at the Painting Budda''s demonstration doing the Shield Maiden. Ray
