No idea what proportion of the membership here is also interested in plastic kits, but I do know that some of us are. Plus of course with crew figures etc. there's something of a crossover.

So if anyone would be interested in a subforum dedicated to plastic model kits, please say I. The final decision isn't down to me, but sufficient interest expressed can make these things happen.

I started out as a plastic armor modeler and fairly soon got hooked by Shep Paine's books and his work on figures. I still build the occasional piece of armor. Whereas the IPMS hardware geeks of the club drool over some miniscule gauge, I remind them that there has to be humanity to operate that hardware.

I'm for it.

Sorry....but IMHO....the title of the forum says it all for me.....(n)

Whilst I enjoy the odd break from figures....I truly believe there are better forums that already exist for such subjects.....

Most of us started out with plastic kits of some sort or another but this is not the place for them , this is Planet Figure dedicated to toy soldiers some might say  nowt wrong with the other stuff but not here please

The regulars have spoken (well some of them have!) and already the general mood seems to be overwhelmingly against.

So I'm going to unstick this now and let it slide quietly down the page.

Thanks to all who have responded.

I say a great big Yes.Getting rid of friends of planet figure, and replacing it with a forum for plastic kits.if people don't want to look at it no problem. Not many people look at friends of planet figure.

Hi Steve.
To decide to unstick the post after only 12 hours and 10 replies seems a bit premature to me.After all, as you have said yourself there are over 6500 members.Give it a few weeks and see what replies you get.If people don't want it then no problem.Just give it a chance.:).
All the best.
Ralph.

I build models, too, but yeah, I don't think it's really necessary to create a separate area of the forum for them. As others have noted, there are forums for scale modeling, and we do have the lounge area. And there's nothing preventing someone from posting photos of scale models in his gallery page.

Prost!
Brad

I would say leave the forum as figures. If a project has a plastic kit along with figures I don't have an issue with someone posting it but I don't think we need a separate section for vehicle Kurtz.
Gerald
Whoops I meant vehicle kits of course not Kurtz.
Gerald

Definitely not for me. There are missing Lynx and numerous other forums out there, by comparison we are a smaller niche in the hobby, before you know it the monster would take over and figures would become secondary. A definate NO, and I do build the occasional plastic kit.

I have to admit doing the eyes on those 1/1200 scale ship crew figures is quite a challenge for me these days.

No I'd have to agree there are plenty of good fora out there that cover the subject without pF doing the same, although I do like to see the occasional well done AFV.

But I have always thought that this being a figure forum it wouldn't be out of place for us to have a subforum just for pictures of naked girls.
Classy tasteful ones of course, a place where one could appreciate the female figure and get some inspiration for .....um figure modelling.:sneaky::cool:
