Dear friends, we hope you are all fine!
We are happy to present our two new releases of September
1f642.png
:)

Sorry in advance for this long introductory text, but we think they deserve a brief description:
The first of the pieces is a bust in 200mm. of Agamemnon, the supreme king of the Greek (Achaean) army in the Trojan War, around 1180 BC. Although some time ago we made a bust of Penthesileia, Amazon queen ally of the Trojans in this war, with this bust we would like to continue a series of characters based on the epic Homeric texts. But the true personal meaning is that we recently moved to Greece and we live a very few kilometers from Mycenae, where the ruins of the citadel of the mythical King Agamemnon are located.

Sculpture: Myouchin
Boxart: Alexandre Cortina Bonastre
Material: Grey Resin

I think this is a tremendous piece and I can envisage seeing some quite fabulous examples in competition areas once the shows are up and running again.

I look forward to seeing what's next in the 'Troy' range.

Absolutely brilliant, on the christmas list(y)
If anything the lion looks a bit too alive. I wonder what they would have replaced the eyes with if they even did.

Good question and I imagine Del something like glass beads or coloured rock perhaps..? I wonder if that's what the Romans did with their animal skin uniforms which included the head (Bears & Lions) and as worn by the Legion Signifers and Aquilifers etc? .

As far as the eyes go.....I think we all know there were some talented people back in those days. Who knows how the eyes were made? Outstanding piece of sculpture and painting.

great bust, for the eyes i would bet they were something like the egyptians used on their mortuary masks

Übersetzung:

Rüstung der Spätgriechenzeit / Mykenisch
von Agamemnon
15.-14. Jahrhundert v. Chr.

Was das Löwenfell angeht:
In alten Darstellungen aus der griechischen Mythologie taucht ein Löwenfell (mit Löwenhaupt auf dem Kopf) durcchaus öfter auf, wenn auch zeitlich nicht ganz passend...:

Aber die gezeigte Rüstung plus das Löwenhaauptmotiv scheinen mir die Grundlagen für die Büste gewesen zu sein...
Gruß

This armor is exhibited in a Greek museum, which was obviously the model for the bust:

The Text is:

Πανοπλίες της Ύστερης Ελλαδικής Περιόδου / Μυκηναϊκές
Θώρακας του Αγαμέμνονα
15-14ου π.Χ αιώνα

Translation:

Armor of the Late Greek / Mycenaean
from Agamemnon
15.-14. Century BC Chr.

As for the lion skin:

In old representations from Greek mythology, a lion's skin (with a lion's head on its head) appears quite often, even if it doesn't quite match the time ...:

So all of this is not entirely out of thin air ...

Cheers

Yes the lion skin, but to my knowledge related only to Herakles ( one of his 12 deeds )
All above pictures shows representations of Herakles ( Hercule )
