Personally I just can't see much point in this type of publication anymore.
There's so many technical tutorials available online and so many artists willingly accessible through social media that as a hobby we are better served than ever.
About 2 years ago I bit the bullet and dumped for recycling my comprehensive collections of MMod, Soldatini and Figurines, holding back about 9 issues.
Initially it was tough but there were hundreds of magazines just gathering dust.
That being said and as has been mentioned, it is an attractive piece of painting porn, just not essential for me.

Yes Del, I too had a mahoosive clear out of years' worth of old magazines a year or so ago.. I kept one copy of Figurines that I had a piece pictured in. Like you say, no point hoarding stuff you'll never refer to again. The hobby has moved on and old mags are only useful as a comparison of how far it's come.

It’s sad but true..as well I find the images in the books somehow unnatural. That’s just not the way these things look in the hand..it’s an oversaturated illustrators approach ..and there is no way a few grab shots can convey the depth of hours spent accomplishing the painting feats..they are sadly glorified marketing pieces for paint makers

Just follow the brush strokes demo as shown in the book and you will paint like a master painter.

Having seen the YouTube review l will probably get a copy because like the cartacci book it gives you everything in one place. I find that l always learn something from such books. So many other publications are just picture books for painters to ply their trade rather than instruct or pass on their knowledge. Nothing beats practice and you can't teach experience but having the basics in a handy volume can only be useful.
As regards price it is 2/3 times a picture book which probably gives you nothing.

Hi
Got my copy ..........Very impressed with it ..........Yes the cover price is expensive
But decided t0 go for it rather than buying more figures........... Attempting to paint what I already have in the drawer
to a better level ............This publication is very inspirational............ I would thoroughly recommend it

A very Merry and safe Christmas to all

I agree with Frank. Bought a copy as a present to my self. Yes the cover price is expensive but it’s a valiant attempt to cover most aspects of figure painting. The artwork is stunning and the quality of the print is good on quality paper. I recommend this book and believe most painters will get something from it and will be happy they have it in their library.
Peter.
