September 17th 1901..... Modderfontein Farm.....a squadron of 17th lancers pinned down by a large Boer force, fought to the finish.
Just some final touches to do with this fabulous sculpt by Carl Reid and produced by Stuart at Stormtrooper miniatures. It's great to see a new addition to these 1/9th scale busts, and possibly more to come in the future....
The main figure is taken from an original work by Richard Canton Woodville. and purely as a personal choice i decided to change the hair colour.
The kit requires minimal preparation and comes with alternative heads...
Thanks for looking Mike.... sorry for the photo quality taken with my phone..

Mike,
Nice painting on a great bust, he has the look of WTF.
The leather bandolier is very well done. (y)
Look forward to seeing him completed. :)

Great job Mike. I’ve just started the same project and agree it’s a great bust. I think it’s going to be very popular!

Hi Mike

Great to see this as a WIP , looking really good

Like the hair colour change and the uniform Kharki ...what's the mix ?

I too purchased this cracker ...will get to it eventually !..might convert it a bit

Following with you all the way

Hi Mike,
I'll like to second the question of Nap about the Mix.
Received my copy of the bust today in the post.

Looking great so far Mike. Just received mine the day before yesterday. Think I will do mine with the hat; love those bush hats.

Hi Nap and thanks for looking.....the khaki was a mix of greenish umber (rembrant) and mars yellow oils with specks of yellow and white to get the desired shade, shadow with specks of burnt umber or raw umber...this is over an acrylic undercoat of pale stone..
The leather was burnt sienna and burnt umber applied over acrylic sand ...left to settle for 20-30 minutes and then gently removed in this case with ladies soft white makeup sponges.. about £1.00 a bag...you get loads of shapes and sizes.:) then you can refine with small dry filbert brush....enjoy....(y) Mike
