Hello Gents

Here are new figures from Alpine Miniatures May/June 2016.

Thank you!

What to say? Although done several times before in different scales I always felt that the figure did not translate the picture into a miniature. This one is different!!! Perfect job Taesung.
The same goes for the paintwork. Not easy to depict the facial camo in miniature.

Thanks for the comments, guys!

As for the helmet size, I see what you mean when compared to the B&W photo.
AFAIK, the German helmets came in several different sizes (6 or 7) unlike the US helmet.
Haven't you ever noticed that some looks tight and some looks loose when looking through photos?

Right Taesung - I guess that a bigger helmet would just more emphasize the boyish appearance of these young soldiers like in the reference pictures. But there were other sizes of the helmet...

Unless I miss my mark, the photo at the top (as the background of the figure), and the one on down of the younger guy, are of different soldiers, yes? The first guy looks older, and appears to be wearing a camo suit of Italian cloth, as the figure is painted. The guy at the bottom is wearing pea dot and his face is smeared with camo paint or grime.
German helmets were of different sizes, had to be since the liner was riveted into the helmet shell. US helmets used a separate helmet liner for sizing and one size shell. Unfortunately this has caused great difficulty in getting US M1 helmets correct, they many times end up looking like just the liners.
This is by far the best sculpt of this particular subject that I have seen, and it will be added to my gray army. Well done!

Thanks again for the comments, guys! :)

The ammo belts were 3D scanned and printed by Mr. John Rosengrant.

Another question, looking at the photo Martin posted, does that boy have an entrenching tool tucked into his belt? I'm wondering what that is in front of his right chest.

Thank you

Kylie

Hi John,
Really nice figure but just a little disappointed that it is virtually identical to the Moz Corry figure that we have been offering for a number of years. No law against it of course, but issuing virtually identical figures to ones already available is bound to result in lower sales for us both.

With all due respect Terry, I have the Moz figure and comparing it to the pics of the Alpine figure, I think the Alpine figure is an all around better figure and a bit more faithful to the source subject. Just my opinion of course, but having a number of figs from Maurice Corry and companies he has sculpted for, and a number of Alpine figs, I lean toward the Alpine figures across the board. Nothing against Moz, its just his style isn't my favorite. Besides, we have MANY subjects that have been done again and again, and though we frequently hear "not another German" or "not another (fill in the blank), they seem to sell just fine, since they get released again. As I said, I have the Moz figure and will be buying the Alpine figure as well. Its a sickness...

That happens if you use well known reference pictures as inspiration for a figure - both figures will look similar....but it`s always good as a customer to have a choice. As said in my first post: "Although done several times before in different scales (not just by Foxwood Miniatures) I always felt that the figure did not translate the picture into a miniature" but Taesung has nailed it IMHO - just take a closer look at the body language.
Thanks for posting so many good pictures of your product in this thread, by that everybody can make up his mind for himself if he wants to buy this one or the Alpine release.
Cheers, Martin

I think that if a figure is good enough it will stand on its own merits and guys will buy it even if it's a subject / pose that's been done before, or one that suddenly finds itself "competing" with a new version that's just appeared (as here).

So speaks a bloke with half a dozen Roman Signifers and several (I've lost count) "Germans in greatcoats holding machine guns" in the cabinet & stash.
