Hi Julius,

Sorry for the late reply !

For my cooler looking skin tone I use the following oil paints: (Windsor and Newton Artists range) Venitian red,Naples yellow and Titanium white. This is mixed into a pale skin tone with a pinkish hue, lowlights are added with the base cote and more V/red and then with Burnt Umber and also Ivory black for the deepest shading.Highlights are added with Naples yellow and white to the base flesh mix.I undercote in Humbrol Flesh and white in a 50/50 mix.

Thanks for looking :)

Carl mate, that is an absolutely stunning piece of work. Looking hard for something to criticise but I just can't find 'owt!

I can see both sides of the "plain base vs dio base" argument and I think that when it comes to armour, it depends very much on the piece. I do like to see a nicely done dio or vignette, but in this case I think that the black base works well and sets it off nicely. I shall now look at that "boring old Tamiya Steyr" that's been languishing untouched and unloved in my stash for the past half decade or more in a completely different light, LOL!
