For real....

In my dry dock of shame....

That Cutty Sark
A wooden Mediterranean fishing boat
A plastic tug by Revell
A plastic fishing trawler by Revell
A plastic/wooden fishing boat by Billing Boatz

And I'm tempted by a wooden Viking Longship....

I need help

Ever hear of Harold Hahn? Lived close by and would confide in him for his amazing ship models when I was sculpting a nautical piece. I still have a work in progress of the HMS Pandora, plank on bulkhead, that went after the mutineers of the HMS Bounty. Will I ever finish it?....How long will I live? Much more difficult and time consuming than painting miniatures.
Very nice work,
Wayne

Hi Mike and the rest of you ship builders,
I want to build a master pattern in wood (not balsa) but I need specific sizes as I do not have any tools to make the timber to size.
So where do I timber in the following sizes
2mm plank
2.5mm plank
3mm plank
3.5mm x 4mm square
3.5mm x 2.5mm square

I could of course score and cut them to the required widths and length.
Any assistance would be most helpful.
cheers
Richie

Hi Ritchie, if you are asking where you can get the necessary widths of timber for model boats, I have used Cornwall Model Boats in the past… have a look at their website .
Good luck …

Hi Richie... I don't know that this will help much but if you can't locate what you need from a UK source, try www.modelexpo-online.com here in the US. They stock a full range of ship model kits and accessories including planking. I've bought and built a number of their kits and they have everything a model ship builder could possibly want or need.
