Interesting new knight figure...What is the origin country of this scaled armour and round shield in the late 13th. century ?..As i haven't seen it before in a Europian knight of this period...And no, i'm not an expert in medival armour just curious , as this info may help in finding reference for painting.Thank you in advance and keep creating.!

Thank you! We used images of several tombstones from this period. The main sample is located in Italy, but we cannot say that it was an Italian who was buried. Therefore, they gave the name European Knight and limited the years.

There is also a German tomb effigy of a knight using this kind of armour under his Waffenrock, Albrecht I von Hohenlohe († 1338). Here portrayed by Angus McBride.

Thank you for your fast response and info on the topic..About the shield...This statue is from a scene in the Reims Cathedral , made around 1250 i believe , which presents a story from Genesis 14. ( Abraham , Melchizedek and king of Sodom,)...And to be honnest the whole outfit of this warrior looks closer to a Byzantine one..Do you think there is a chance they sculpted him in such armour because of the fact that they wanted to present a king of the East from a previous era but in their know armour ,of the time they made this scene?......I also attached a second photo from another statue of this Cathedral with a soldier in a quite similar armour..What are your thoughts?..Thank you once again.

I think this is a very real armor used, confirmed by more than one image from different places in Europe. It is also described in some books. I'll try to take a screenshot
