I just got finished reading that story before coming to PF, this is the stuff of a bad situation comedy. Thank goodness, it wasn't a major piece.

I love the quote "The BBC Europe correspondent described the painting's current state as resembling "a crayon sketch of a very hairy monkey in an ill-fitting tunic." I think I had that same comment at a modelling show a few years back....

It reminds me of that scene in "Goodfellas", when Tommy, Jimmy and Henry have stopped at Tommy's mother's house on their way to bury a corpse. As they eat the supper she makes for them, she shows them her paint-by-numbers artwork.

Prost!

Come on guys! Sould open your minds to this very first work of a new spanish wave of expressionism art.!! I'm pretty sure that soon it will be auctioned at Sotheby's.:ROFLMAO:

I think the unnamed woman did it as a surprise for the priests birthday. It was only an old painting after all and let be honest here chaps, it was her first time after all, what was your first early master like?
Recently visited Dumfries House a rather wonderful old mansion. The first Earl who owned it allowed his wife to do pretty much as she liked and one corridor was ruined as she painted over so much beautiful work with grey paint. It took many months recently for a team to restore most of it. One piece was left intact just to show what she had done.

When I first saw this on an online article, I thought it was a joke. Then I actually saw it on the news. Good lord. Even I COULD have done better than that!

This is in our Parish church, could do with a bit of a touch up.... I was thinking the monkey's in tunic theme would be good. :D

It's in the paper today, that she hadn't finished it.
Carl.

That's funny--she takes forever to finish a project, just like the rest of us :D Instead of a gray army, she probably has a catalog of old, decaying church art that she keeps adding to, and she says to her friends, "Oh, I'll get to it all, someday."

Prost!
