Hey everyone,

Pete Herrera had asked me about posting a dio I completed a couple of years back based on Starship Troopers. Well, here goes. The "Warrior Bugs" are from a company called Warp. I purchased them from Comet Miniatures. Thay are airbrushed with Testors Enamels and detailed with Vallejos. The MI Troopers are included in the Bug kits. These have been modifed to fit the dio and are painted with Vallejos. The Outpost is scratch-built from sheet styrene. For some of the parts I made masters and cast the rest. That's about it. Look forward to your comments. Thanks

Cheers,
Bob Waltman

Excellent!

Wierd as well............not 2 hours ago I looked at the "making of" book for this movie (hadn't picked it up in a couple of years or more!)

Aghhhhhhhh, nice to see this one again too! You really captured the "feel" of the movie well. I have always enjoyed looking at my "old" pictures of this.

Thanks again,
Jim Patrick

Nice looking dio, slightly OT here but if you guys get the chance
ditch the film and read the book.

Heinlein was years ahead of his time. I understand they tried to ban the book when it was first published. Its a real shame the film fell so far short.

Hey, thanks for posting the pictures! Here are some I took at the 2002 Atlanta show. By the way, does anybody know if these figures are sold individually?

And a close-up of one of the MI troopers ...

Too bad the movie didn't do the book justice at all - it looked more like an episode of "Melrose Place."

I really enjoyed the book too.

Heinlein's a bit of a fanatic regarding what is required for 'citizenship' and voting rights, but the story is great. Like most of his books!

The dio is super looking too. Much better than the movie!! ;)

Cheers

Thanks for the comments everyone.

I too enjoyed the book more then the movie, but still had a blast recreating a scene from the flick.

Thanks Pete for posting additional pics. As for the MI Trooper, I am not aware of anyone who sells the figure by itself.

Below is a couple of links to a company that sells the version from the animated series. They are roughly 54MM scale.

This is really cool!! I wish I'd seen this in person but I skipped Atlanta 2002. Oh well.

Well, there's nothing wrong with "Melrose Place" per se if you're intention is to watch just that... ;) But taking a really cool adventurous, yet philosophical book and turning it a "space opera" is a shame. Wasn't it by the same guy who did "Showgirls" btw? That should have been a big clue.
