Reading one of Don Trioani's books, I came across this.
It struck me as a nice variation on the standard infantryman, and a possible subject for a figure manufacturer?

Just a thought, anyway.

I think,the long forgotten company GLORY from Italy did this guy in 54 mm and some others from Troiani paintings.But they have the same trouble with him...........and they disappeard.
I bought them many moons ago in Kulmbach in their green boxes with D.T`s pictures on it.

Do not use other people's art as a basis for creating figurines - this is fraught with claims related to copyright. Some authors react very painfully when their images are transformed into three-dimensional figurines or entire scenes by other authors.

Hi all
It was really a suggestion for figure manufacturers. The problem of artists getting stroppy about models inspired by their work is a new one on me. But if that's an issue, then I guess this might be a non-starter.

Hi Terry again, we had a run in with Mr T over our version of the Clinch Rifles. We changed the pose a little just to calm the issue. To be honest it’s difficult to get away from using art. Work for the bases of a figure. We have used very old art works and some from photos.

MR T is very on the ball with people using his art. He has a deal with a. Toy soldier company who use his art for them? Britain’s I think is the company.and he has his spies who report back to him and then the merry go round starts. With stop what your doing and the rest.

Best thing to do us use the art for reference and then get the sculptor to add their own twist to it. By the way the subject is an interesting one. I will put the idea to the team when they come back from leave.

Old Don T certainly seems to be a sensitive individual.
Donald...
That was putting it mildly. I myself witnessed some terrible scenes here on the forum when one of the manufacturers took his art as a basis. As a result, the manufacturer could not even agree with them on paying a percentage of the proceeds, and closed the production.

I have heard of Don T doing this many years ago didn't realise it was his hobby. May be we should be inspired by more whimsical art work. Saw this on FB and loved it straight away;
